Dynamic Control has been helping automotive engineers, technicians, and scientists for years, and during this time common tools have been developed to help simplify engine and component testing. These tools include hardware and software which are currently used for catalytic converter aging and evaluation. In addition, EGO sensor testing and various emission related testing can easily be performed with some of the software packages available. We are developing additional software packages to perform other types of engine tests, as these packages become available, they will appear on this web site under News

Engine Management and Analysis System II (EMAS II):

The EMAS II provides our automotive customers with unique testing and development capabilities. It is designed to be placed inside an engine test cell as depicted to the left. It offers control of various engine sub-systems such as fueling and ignition while maintaining stock engine configurations including the OEM harnesses and engine controller. It has built in data acquisition capabilities and numerous safety systems which not only protect the engine, but help assure that quality testing is performed.
HexAlink Generic Breakout Box:

Our generic breakout box which provides rapid non-intrusive interfacing to stock OEM harnesses and engines. The breakout box typically attaches between the OEM engine controller and the engine harness. It allows access to all the signals traveling between the engine controller and the engine. The signals can be monitored via two banana jacks on the panels of the box. The jacks are grouped in pairs so that the signal can be divided into an engine side (leading back to the engine) and ECU side (leading to the Engine Control Unit) when the switch located next to the jack pair is moved to the open position. Any and all connections can be broken using these switches, this allows the user to substitute signals for testing or diagnosing a problem. It is also useful for simply monitoring signals without having to identify and pierce a wire through a complex harness.

Interface Modules:

Our Interface Modules work in unison with the HexALink breakout box. These modules present the user with an OEM connection to the breakout box. The Interface Module shown to the left is a Ford Motor 104 Pin model, we have a variety of modules available including the Ford 150, GM 80 pin (LS1®, Northstar®) and a host of others. We can also create new modules within a few weeks. The Interface Module also includes all the interface cables needed to attach the OEM engine controller.

Software Packages
Catalyst Aging Software:

This software package was designed to aid in the testing of catalytic converters. The program allows the user to execute a series of steps which are designed to artificially age catalytic converters. When grouped together, these steps are referred to as an aging cycle. The aging cycle usually requires adjustment to the engine's Air Fuel Ratio and ignition timing along with other external adjustments or controls. Our software allows these adjustments and provides the user with an easy method of creating the cycles.

Sweep and Lightoff Software:

This software package was designed to aid in the evaluation of catalytic converters. To perform the evaluation, a series of Air Fuel Ratio waveforms are generated by the engine using the software and the EMAS II . These waveforms generate certain emission patterns which are analyzed using emission analyzers and software to determine how well the catalytic converter is performing. This software requires a wide range Lambda sensor be present in the tailpipe.

Quality Assurance Software:

This software is an add-on to the Catalyst Aging Software. Its function is to perform a real-time analysis of the data being collected during the aging cycle. This data is analyzed to make certain that the aging is proceeding correctly and that the engine and cell are functioning properly. The data collected is also summarized to generate reports which can be viewed during the aging process and at the end of the test.

The purpose of this software is to help assure that quality data is being produced and to protect the catalyst from being damaged, since it represents a significant investment.
